Classes Outside

“Survival Strategies for the International Traveler” is among the wide range of outdoor skills scheduled in summer courses at Eastern Washington University.
Other courses spanning two days to a month include mountain biking, whitewater rafting, canoeing, rock climbing, fly fishing, survival skills for pilots and passengers, plus a course that offers an introduction to a dozen activities from trapshooting to badminton.
“The survival strategies for international travelers is taught by a retired Navy SEAL who is a neat guy and a super speaker,” said Paul Green, EWU recreation professor.
Instructors for all of the courses are top notch, he said, but Frank Wysocki, who has more than 30 years experience in the Navy’s special operations, is a special treat.
The courses offer two college credits. Costs start at $212, although some might have additional fees for travel.
Registration deadline is June 25, but many classes are likely to fill sooner, Green said.
