Technology Featured At Annual Timberfest

From Staff

The 10th annual Timberfest gets under way this weekend at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, featuring logging skills contests and a forest practices trade show.

This year’s trade show highlights include four portable sawmills and a helicopter. Precision Helicopters from Laclede, Idaho, will have a logging helicopter on display.

Four portable sawmills will demonstrate different technology for milling lumber in the woods or on the landowners property.

The annual event kicks off with the Timberfest Dance, featuring the live band Motion, at 8 p.m. Friday. The dance costs $5 and is restricted to those 21 and older.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Saturday, when the log-truck loading and driving competition begins. Exhibits open at 10 a.m. and logging events begin at noon.

Tickets to Timberfest are available in advance at the Sandpoint Visitors Center on U.S. Highway 95 or at the gate. Tickets are $5, with kids under 13 free.
