Road Near Lolo Pass Is Closed For Repairs

From Staff Reports

A forest road near Lolo Pass will be closed through July.

Beaver Ridge Road 369, which takes off from U.S. Highway 12 about five miles west of the pass, will be closed about a half-mile from the highway. The Clearwater National Forest is rebuilding the Brushy Fork Bridge.

Built in the 1930s, the bridge needs to be replaced because the river is undermining its supports. The new bridge will be a deck that spans the river without supports in the water.

There is an alternate route to gain access to Beaver Ridge, Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness access trail 99 or Beaver Lake, Elliott said. The alternate route is Elk Summit Road 111, which leaves Highway 12 about two miles east of Powell Junction. Then connect to Beaver Meadows Road 368 and onto Road 369.
