Nic, Dixie Succumb To Elements

Six bags of Diamond Dry later, North Idaho College and visiting Dixie almost completed a baseball game Friday. The game was suspended after 4-1/2 innings due to darkness with Dixie leading 4-1.

The game will resume this morning at 10, weather permitting. The teams also will try to play as much of their scheduled four-game series as possible.

“We worked our tails off to get the field ready,” NIC coach Paul Manzardo said. It snowed most of the morning, forcing the delay.

Dixie coach Mike Littlewood argued without success when umpires suspended play. “It’s not supposed to be good weather (Saturday),” Littlewood said. “We’re not staying (Sunday). We left Wednesday to get here.”

Dixie’s Adam Madsen launched a homer and NIC committed two errors to help the Rebels score twice in the fifth. NIC pitcher Adam Fritz struck out nine.
