Cda Students Run Mock Car Dealership

Coeur d’Alene High School students will turn their campus into a mock car dealership on Thursday as part of a DECA program.

Each student involved in the General Motors Learning Applied Business Program (GM LAB) will be part of a different department within the on-campus dealership.

Departments include the business office, financing, insurance, sales, and parts and service. Other students will pretend to be customers purchasing cars.

The program is designed to introduce high school students to dealership operations and automotive careers. Also included in the project are guest speakers from Knudtsen Chevrolet and job shadowing opportunities at that dealership.

Knudtsen and the Chevrolet division of GM donated $1,200 to the class for the project. The company also has provided teaching, training and mentoring throughout the project.
