Bonner Voters Pass Consecutive Levies
Bonner County school officials this week celebrated a milestone - three consecutive school levies approved by voters in as many years.
Tuesday’s $1.6 million levy was passed by 58 percent of voters.
Similar levies were passed in 1999 and 1998.
“Of course, I am very pleased the patrons supported the levy,” said Roy Rummler, superintendent of the Lake Pend Oreille School District. “Even more important, however, is the positive involvement of community and staff in the schools - the VISTA program, the teachers’ association, the business folks and others who I see involved in the schools and in support of the children every day.”
Money raised from this week’s levy will replace textbooks, maintain favorable studentteacher ratios and provide technology support.
