School Drops Probe In Alleged Shoving

Coeur d’Alene High School has dropped its investigation into an assistant football coach who was accused of pushing a student photographer last month.

Superintendent David Rawls said the matter was resolved Friday when senior Greg Stixrud and his parents met with the coach and administration.

“All thought the meeting was a satisfactory resolution, and there’s an understanding in terms of what happened,” Rawls said Tuesday. “It’s all concluded.”

Stixrud, a photographer for the student Viking Voice, claimed he was pushed by Coeur d’Alene assistant coach Nick Rook and escorted off the field during the Sept. 29 game against Lake City.

Stixrud, 17, was shooting photos of an injured player who was allegedly hit in the neck with a crab apple after the game.

Rawls said the complaint became “a bigger issue than it appeared to be” because the administration took several days to meet with Stixrud’s parents.

“We made an error,” Rawls said.
