Escaped prison inmate recaptured
POCATELLO, Idaho – An escaped prison inmate was recaptured Wednesday in southeastern Idaho after a few hours on the lam.
Correction Department spokeswoman Teresa Jones said Joseph Lee Garren, 23, was taken into custody in Bannock County.
He escaped Tuesday night from the camp for a prison crew assigned to thin trees in the Emmett area west of Boise. Garren was in the camp for the 10 p.m. inmate count but was missing at the 5 a.m count, Jones said.
Garren, who would have been eligible for parole in a year, is serving time for burglary, theft and arson.
