Astros 5, Cubs 1: At Chicago, Roger Clemens won for the first time at Wrigley Field, keeping his perfect season intact by pitching Houston past the Cubs. Clemens (8-0) came back from three straight no-decisions with seven sharp innings. The 41-year-old Rocket earned his 318th career victory, tying Phil Niekro for the 14th place on the all-time list.

Mets 5, Phillies 3 (10): At Philadelphia, Todd Zeile hit a game-tying three-run home run in the eighth inning and a game-winning two-run blast in the 10th, leading New York over the Phillies for a three-game sweep.

Reds 3, Marlins 1: At Miami, Sean Casey singled in the seventh inning to break up Dontrelle Willis’ perfect-game bid, then hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the ninth to lift Cincinnati over Florida.

Cardinals 5, Pirates 3: At Pittsburgh, Albert Pujols hit his major league-leading 17th home run, Tony Womack had four hits and St. Louis beat the Pirates. Pujols’ two-run shot in the first inning gave him a home run in four of his last five games, and helped the Cardinals win for the sixth time in seven games.

Padres 2, Rockies 1 (10): At San Diego, Jay Payton hit an RBI single past the glove of diving second baseman Aaron Miles with two outs in the 10th inning and the Padres beat Colorado to avoid being swept in consecutive home series.

Expos 8, Braves 4: At Atlanta, backup catcher Einar Diaz drove in his first three runs of the season, and Montreal beat the Braves to avoid a three-game sweep.

Diamondbacks 8, Giants 6: At Phoenix, Randy Johnson (7-4) won his fourth start in a row and Shea Hillenbrand homered and drove in three runs as Arizona held off San Francisco.

Dodgers 5, Brewers 2: At Los Angeles, Paul Lo Duca homered and drove in three runs, Edwin Jackson (1-0) pitched five strong innings in an emergency start and the Dodgers beat Milwaukee.
