Basketball

June 12-13: Register by June 5 for the first annual Horse contest and BBQ to benefit the American Diabetes Association at The Warehouse at 800 N. Hamilton. June 5-6: Valley Renegade’s Gaming Club show at Deardorff’s Arena. Starts at 9 a.m. both days. Show is sanctioned by NE Zone Games Division. June 25-27: The 23rd annual Deep Creek Horse Trials, recognized by the United States Eventing Association, will be held at Deep Creek Farm in Medical Lake. Events begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Go to www.deepcreekhorsetrials.org for more information.

Golf

June 18: North Idaho College Cardinal Golf Classic at 1 p.m. at the Avondale Golf Club. All proceeds benefit the NIC Booster Club. Track and field

June 4: The Rathdrum Parks and Recreation Department is having a free Hershey Track Meet at Lakeland Junior High School. The meet is open to all Idaho girls and boys ages 9-14. Events include the 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes along with an 800-meter run and a 1,600-meter run. A relay race along with standing long jump and softball throw also are planned. Winners of each age group will advance to the Idaho State Track Meet on July 10 in Hailey, Idaho. Registration for Friday’s event starts at 5 p.m. Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate for age verification. The track meet starts at 5:30 p.m. Participants also can pre-register at City Hall.

Volleyball

Sign up: the 2004 Red Bull Outdoor Volleyball Tournament Series, held at North Idaho College, will consist of four tournament weekends. Sports Cellar Classic June 19-20, Spalding Spike Feet July 10-11, GC Open July 24-25, and the Red Bull Championship Aug. 7-8. Over $10,000 in cash and prizes. Men’s, Women’s, and junior doubles on Saturdays, reverse coed on Sundays.
