Huskies come up short of Super Regional berth
The Washington Huskies, needing to beat Tulane twice to advance to a Super Regional, dropped the first game 12-3 and saw their season come to an end in Oxford, Miss.
Washington (39-20-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead on junior catcher Aaron Hathaway’s three-run home run just inside the left-field foul pole in the first inning.
But it was all Tulane after that.
The Green Wave (41-19) scored a run in the second inning and added three more in the third. Brian Bogusevic drove in the go-ahead run with a single.
Bogusevic, who also pitched into the ninth inning in a win over Washington on Friday, was named the regional’s outstanding player.
Tulane will play Cal State Fullerton in a Super Regional opener.
Cal State Fullerton advanced by beating Pepperdine twice in Fullerton, Calif., 15-1 and 16-3.
