Rattlers fend off Crush
PHOENIX – Sherdrick Bonner threw a touchdown pass to Siaha Burley with 17 seconds left to send Arizona to the Arena Bowl with a 45-41 win over the Colorado Crush on Sunday.
The Rattlers will play the San Jose SaberCats at home on June 27.
Anthony Brenner kicked a 26-yard field goal for Colorado to give the Crush a 41-38 lead with 56 seconds to play.
Bonner completed 25 of 34 passes for 256 yards and five touchdowns. Colorado, which trailed 17-0 early in the second quarter, tied the game four times in the second half. John Dutton’s 4-yard pass to Willi Marshall with 10 minutes left in the game made it 38-all before Colorado finally took the lead on Brenner’s kick.
Damian Harrell had three touchdown catches for the Crush among his seven receptions for 118 yards. Dutton was 29 for 52 for 325 yards and four TDs.
Tom Pace led the Rattlers with nine catches for 110 yards. He and Burley each had two touchdowns.
On Saturday, Mark Grieb threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score in the final 5 minutes to lift San Jose to a 49-35 win over the Chicago Rush.
