Ryan Gray of Cheney, a sophomore at Odessa (Texas) College, won the bareback riding title at the College National Finals Rodeo over the weekend in Casper, Wyo.

Gray rode to a first-place finish in the fourth and final round Saturday night with a score of 88 points aboard Hank Franzen’s Spotted Bird.

That ride combined with first, second and sixth places in his other three rides gave him a total of 330 points, giving him a 19-point victory over his closest competitor, Logan Hodson of Panhandle State University.

Panhandle won the men’s team title and Oklahoma State the women’s crown.
