Freeman (8-0, 5-0) has secured first place and the top seed into the state football playoffs. A preliminary playoff game will be played Nov. 13 between Freeman and an SCAC team, to be determined. The winner will challenge Royal (9-0, 7-0) in the state quarterfinals. … Last year’s state runner-up, Colfax (6-0 NEA), has secured a berth in this year’s volleyball tournament, but Newport (4-2) has earned the No. 2 spot over Freeman (2-4), which was third at state last year.
