Steam Plant fund-raiser will benefit Fox project

Ron and Julie Wells, owners of the Steam Plant Grill, will host a fund-raiser for the Fox Theater next Sunday.

The Halloween event involves a full-course meal with “spooky” live music performed by local musicians, scenes from “Phantom of the Opera” and more.

Halloween costumes are welcome.

Cocktail hour will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30, at the Steam Plant Grill, 159 S. Lincoln St.

Tickets are $50; proceeds will benefit the restoration of the Fox Theater.

Wine, beer and auctions

• The ninth annual Octobrewfest will be Saturday at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St.

The microbrew and wine tasting event with auction is a benefit for the Inland Northwest Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which helps the more than 2,000 local residents with MS and their families.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 in advance, and $14 at the door, and include four brew sampling tokens, commemorative mug, and a catalog on the microbrews and auction items available. Additional sample tokens may be purchased for $1. You must be 21 to attend.

Sample various wines, brews and Wyder’s Hard Cider and bid on auction items such as autographed sports memorabilia, artwork, a fishing trip to Montana, jewelry, tools, golf packages, dinners and more.

A variety of brews from some of the Northwest’s most popular microbreweries will be on hand for sampling, including Big Sky, Coeur d’Alene, Snoqualmie Falls, Rocky Coulee and Flying Pig.

Food items from David’s Pizza and Azar’s will be available for purchase.

• The Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation is holding a wine tasting benefit in the Lair-Student Center, Building 6 on the Spokane Community College campus, 1810 N. Greene St.

A tasters’ tour from 7 to 9 p.m. will be guided by three local experts: Matt Kramer, contributing editor for Wine Spectator; Christina Kelly, wine columnist for The Spokesman-Review; and John Allen, owner of Vino! A Wine Shop.

Wine from local wineries such as Latah Creek, Arbor Crest and Townshend, as well as a French wine for comparison, will be served during Thursday’s event.

Appetizers will be prepared and served by students of Spokane Community College’s Inland Northwest Culinary Academy.

Tickets are $75, and proceeds will benefit the Spokane Community College Center for Humanities. Call 434-5123 for more information.

• The 25th annual benefit auction for Trinity Catholic School will be Nov. 13.

To be held at Gonzaga Preparatory School, 1224 E. Euclid Ave., the event includes silent and oral auctions and dinner, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Items up for bid include automobiles from the Jaremko Nissan-Saab dealership, getaway packages, Seattle Seahawk tickets, golf packages from Circling Raven Golf Course, and Spokane Symphony tickets.

Tickets purchased before next Sunday are $17.50, or $20 thereafter and at the door.
