Ragan, Hornets cap first victory with wild finish

Lance Ragan hit the second of two free throws with 3 seconds left to give Inchelium a wild 70-69 victory over visiting Northport in a Panorama League game Tuesday night.

After Tucker Guglielmino drove the length of the floor to tie the game for Northport with 10 seconds left, Ragan hit Jake Warren with a long inbound pass. Warren was flagrantly fouled with 4 seconds left but missed both free throws.

Ragan grabbed his 13th rebound of the game off the second miss and was fouled to make the game-winning trip to the free-throw line.

Ragan led the Hornets (1-4, 1-2) with 24 points, while Cody Peone added 15 points and 16 rebounds. Guglielmino led the Mustangs (2-4, 1-2) with 17 points.

In other Panorama action, Zach Gianukakis had 26 points, 17 rebounds and six assists as Republic cruised to a 72-55 win over visiting Curlew. The Tigers shot 6 of 7 from 3-point range in their 31-point third quarter to break the game open. Derek Gianukakis added 17 points for the Tigers (3-1, 3-0), while Tyler Carlson led the Cougars (4-1, 2-1) with 17. … Ben Czapla scored 24 points as St. Michael’s defeated host Springdale 64-53. Trevor Johnson added 10 points for the Warriors (2-5, 1-1), who outscored the Chargers 37-24 in the second half. Cameron Stevenson scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half to led the rally for the Broncos (2-2, 1-2). … Vitaliy Kozubenko had 15 points and Nick Crooks added 13 as Valley Christian defeated host Reardan 51-49. Valley Christian (3-1, 2-1) shot 7 of 14 from 3-point range in the game, while Reardan (0-1, 0-1) shot just 2 of 12. … Eric Vandenburg hit three 3-pointers and scored 12 points as Northwest Christian routed host Davenport 67-19. DeAngelo Casto scored 22 of his 26 points and shot 13 of 15 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead Freeman to a 60-52 non-league victory at Deer Park. Casto took over the game for the Scotties (2-2) when five of the Stags’ post players fouled out before the end of the third quarter.
