BF beats Timberlake for Freeman title

Spencer Behrens scored 22 points and Matt Rice added 17 as Bonners Ferry took home the Greg Larson Memorial Christmas Tournament title Wednesday night with a 74-59 victory over Timberlake in Freeman.

Cody Jones scored 19 to lead the Tigers (2-5), but Timberlake couldn’t recover after the Badgers (6-4) opened up a 39-26 halftime lead.

In the consolation game, Luke Heinen had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Freeman to a 46-35 victory over visiting Tonasket. Michael Wittwer added 11 for the Scotties (5-3), who held the Tigers to 14-of-44 shooting (32 percent) from the field.

•Mark Lundgren had 15 points and 10 rebounds as visiting Deer Park defeated Priest River 59-42 in a non-league game. Nathan Shea also scored 15 for the Stags (4-2), who outscored the Spartans 34-17 in the second half. Micah Smith led PR (2-5) with 20 points. … Damal Neil scored 16 points to lead North Central (6-1) to a 62-58 victory over Diamond Valley of Melbourne, Australia. Matthew Fennell scored 17 to lead Diamond Valley for the second straight night. The Australians will conclude their Spokane tour tonight at Ferris.

Bo Gregg scored 14 points to lead Lewiston to a 64-52 victory over West Valley (Yakima) on the second day of the Holiday Hoops Classic in Ellensburg. Jordan Gregg and Andrew Packwood each added 12 for the Bengals (6-0), while Tim Wager led the Red Devils with 14.

Nick Johnson‘s 24 points led four St. Michael’s players in double figures as the visiting Warriors defeated Lakeside 70-51 in the first round of the Lakeside Winter Tournament at Plummer. Ben Czapla (19 points), John Mazurik (13) and Trevor Johnson (10) also hit double figures for the Warriors (3-6). Samuel Torpey scored 13 points and Wyatt Peters added nine rebounds for the Knights (0-6), who had 30 turnovers. … Tanner Williams scored 24 points and Taylor Stang added 15 as Cusick won the other first-round matchup, 72-63 over Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy. Josiah Menzies scored 24 and David Baker added 18 points and 11 rebounds for CdA Charter (2-3), which will face Lakeside in today’s consolation game at 2:30 p.m. Cusick (4-2) and St. Michael’s will square off for the championship at 6.

Kyle Nelson scored 14 points as Davenport defeated visiting Columbia 52-31 in the first round of the Davenport Christmas Tournament. Luke Rodenbough added 11 for the Gorillas (2-4), while Tyrel Sampson led the Lions (0-6) with 15. … Soap Lake earned a championship berth against Davenport by way of a 50-36 victory over Colton. Micah Plante scored 16 to lead the Eagles, who outscored the Wildcats 17-4 in the third quarter.
