If you want to train a horse to be a trotter, make sure that she’s of age. Whammy’s owners started in too young with weights on her hooves, designed to force a pretty gait. She was left with bones that are fused and lower legs that can’t properly bend. She remains delighted to carry riders, as long as they are 160 pounds or less. Whammy was part of a group of 40 from a horse retirement home that couldn’t afford the upkeep anymore. Her hooves have been neglected, so they’ll need faithful trimming to get back into dancing shape. For a $100 adoption fee, she can be yours from Horse Haven. Call (208) 699-3059.
