Appointed/Elected

Steve Herling has been elected vice chairman of the board of directors of the Washington State Association of Broadcasters. Herling is the general manager of the KXLY Broadcast Group in Spokane. He has served as a member of the association’s board of directors since 2000.

Glenn A. Johnson, professor of communication at the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University, Pullman, has been re-elected secretary treasurer of the Washington State Association of Broadcasters. Johnson came to WSU after a career in news and broadcast station management in California.

Eric Carpenter has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the Washington State Association of Broadcasters for 2005. Carpenter is the owner and general manager of KCVL-AM/KCRK-FM in Colville. He has served on the association’s board of directors since 1999.

Mikki Stevens, a North Idaho Culinary Arts instructor, was elected vice president of the Cascadia chapter of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education. Stevens is also known regionally as the founder and president of the Red Hot Mamas. Carl Ramsey has been elected to the board of directors of the US Green Building Council, Arizona Chapter. Ramsey works in the Coeur d’Alene office of Architectural and Environmental Associates, Inc.

New Faces

Linda Carver has joined the law firm of Phelps & Associates as a community partnership coordinator. Carver has an associate’s degree in business and numerous years of experience in various business environments as well as owning and operating her own business.

Linda Crockett has recently joined Shriners Hospitals for Children-Spokane as the manager of surgical services. Crockett has an associate’s degree in nursing from Northern Montana College and both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in nursing from Gonzaga University. She has more than 27 years of health care experience, including office nursing, home health/hospice and acute care.

Noreen Newbill has recently joined Shriners Hospitals for Children-Spokane as the director of health information services. Newbill has an associate’s degree from Spokane Community Colleges as a registered health information technologist, and has over 10 years of medical records experience.

Promoted

Brent Heinemann has been promoted from senior strategic planner to director of consumer insights at WhiteRunkle. Heinemann received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in mass communication studies at the University of Oregon. Prior to joining WhiteRunkle, he was employed by the Hartman Group.

Kudos

Jennifer Bell received a $6,000 Amelia Earhart Fellowship from Zonta International, a professional and business women’s organization. Bell is a graduate student in mechanical engineering at the University of Idaho.

Laura Skaer was presented an award by the US Forest Service for her outstanding leadership and cooperation in representing the mining industry with the Forest Service. Skaer is the executive director of the Northwest Mining Association.

Coffman Engineers Inc. was awarded first place for best engineering project by Northwest Construction Magazine. Coffman’s entry of a 235,000-square-foot addition and an 88,500-square-foot remodel design for Sacred Heart Medical Center was selected.
