Duff to do double duty at Teen Choice Awards

From wire reports

Hilary Duff searched for “The Perfect Man” on the movie screen earlier this summer, and now she’s found Rob Schneider. So there’s that.

Duff and Schneider will team up to host the 2005 Teen Choice Awards on Fox. Gwen Stefani has also signed on to the Aug. 16 show, where she’ll perform her hit single “Hollaback Girl” and receive the Teen Choice Visionary Award.

In addition to hosting the show, Duff is also up for a Teen Choice Award in the category of Choice Movie Actress (comedy) for her role in last year’s “A Cinderella Story.” She won a Teen Choice surfboard in 2003 for “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.”

Schneider’s hosting duties coincide with the Aug. 12 release of “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo,” a sequel set in Amsterdam.

The Teen Choice Awards, in their seventh year, honor the favorite performers of the 13- to 19-year-old set in movies, music, television and such other categories as “Choice Hottie.” Fan voting runs through Aug. 4 at teenpeople.com/teenchoice.

Ironic, don’tcha think?

Alanis Morissette is being sent to the principal’s office.

The singer-songwriter will guest-star as a Canadian principal in The N’s teen drama “Degrassi: The Next Generation” on Aug. 26.

Morissette will join filmmaker Kevin Smith and actor Jason Mewes in the second part of the high school soap’s three-part season finale.

In the story line, Smith and Mewes are filming a sequel to their 2001 film “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.” The fictional film, titled “Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh!” sees the bumbling duo crossing the border to earn a high school diploma because no U.S. high school will accept them.

“The plot of the movie within the show is so funny, it almost makes me want to shoot the flick for real,” Smith said.

Morissette, who appeared as God in Smith’s 1999 film “Dogma,” will play the principal who accepts Jay and Silent Bob.
