NASCAR NEXTEL CUP

MBNA RacePoints 400

Site: Dover, Del.

Schedule: Friday, qualifying (Speed Channel, 12:10 p.m.); Sunday, race (FX, 9:30 a.m.).

Track: Dover Downs International Speedway (oval, 1 mile, 24 degrees banking in turns).

Race distance: 400 miles, 400 laps.

Last race: Jimmie Johnson became the first driver to win three straight Coca-Cola 600s when he slid past Bobby Labonte in the final turn of the wreck-filled race at Concord, N.C., but it wasn’t a popular victory — fans threw beer cans at his car during his cool-down lap and booed when he began his celebration. Johnson’s reputation has taken a hit recently after rival drivers accused him of aggressive driving that caused several accidents.

Last year: Mark Martin snapped a 72-race losing streak by winning the MBNA 400 at Dover. Kasey Kahne appeared to be on his way to victory, but he skidded in oil on the track and crashed with 18 laps to go.

Fast facts: Johnson swept both Dover races in 2002. … There were a NASCAR-record 22 cautions last weekend. … Sterling Marlin, winless in 37 career starts at Dover, has not finished better than 23rd in any of the past five races. … This race was shortened to 400 miles in 1997 to try to make it more competitive. It was 500 miles from 1971-96.

NASCAR BUSCH

MBNA RacePoints 200

Site: Dover, Del.

Schedule: Friday, qualifying (Speed Channel, 10:30 a.m.); Saturday, race (FX, 10:30 a.m.).

Track: Dover Downs International Speedway (oval, 1 mile, 24 degrees banking in turns).

Race distance: 200 miles, 200 laps.

Last race: Kyle Busch picked up his first Busch victory of the season by taking the Carquest 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. He became the fourth driver to win consecutive spring races at the track, joining Jeff Green, Mark Martin and Tim Richmond.

Last year: Greg Biffle gave team owner Jack Roush a sweep in the two races at Dover by taking the rain-delayed MBNA America 200 at Dover. The race started Saturday and lasted just 28 laps before being postponed until Monday.

Fast facts: There have been 13 different first-time winners at Dover, most of any track in the series. … Jason Keller is expected to make his 250th consecutive Busch start this weekend. … Joe Nemechek is the only polesitter to win in 23 spring races at Dover, doing it in 2003.

NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCKS

MBNA RacePoints 200

Site: Dover, Del.

Schedule: Thursday, qualifying, 2:10 p.m.; Friday, race (Speed Channel, 1:30 p.m.).

Track: Dover Downs International Speedway (oval, 1 mile, 24 degrees banking in turns).

Race distance: 200 miles, 200 laps.

Last race: Rookie Kyle Busch, 20, became the youngest winner in truck history, holding off Terry Cook and Ted Musgrave in a three-lap closing sprint in the Quaker Steak & Lube 200 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Last year: Chad Chaffin became the sixth different winner in as many 2004 races — a series record — after taking the MBNA America 200 in Dover. Chaffin took the lead following a caution and held on for the final 52 laps.

Fast facts: Ken Schrader will try to join Bobby Labonte as the only drivers to win a Dover race in all three major NASCAR series. Both of his Cup victories came in 1991, two years after his Busch win. … Rick Crawford finished second last year for his third top-three placing at Dover. … This is the sixth year of the event.

CHAMP CAR WORLD SERIES

Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225

Site: West Allis, Wis.

Schedule: Friday, qualifying, 12:45 p.m.; Saturday, race (CBS, 10 a.m.).

Track: The Milwaukee Mile (oval, 1.032 miles, 9 degrees banking in turns).

Race distance: 232.20 miles, 225 laps.

Last race: Bruno Junqueira took his first lead on the 67th lap and took advantage of a yellow flag to win the Monterrey Grand Prix. It was Junqueira’s first victory since winning in Australia last October.

Last year: Polesitter Ryan Hunter-Reay led every lap en route to winning the Road Runner 250. He is the first driver to accomplish the feat since 1992, when Bobby Rahal won a 200-lapper at Phoenix.

Fast facts: Junqueira was in fair condition following surgery on two vertebrae he fractured in a crash during the Indianapolis 500. … Paul Tracy has won this race three times. … No driver has won consecutive races at Milwaukee since Michael Andretti in 1991 and 1992.

FORMULA ONE

Last race: Fernando Alonso recovered from a first-corner bump and took advantage of Kimi Raikkonen’s tire blowout on the last lap in a riveting finish to the European Grand Prix in Germany. Alonso has won four of the first seven races this year.

Next race: Canadian Grand Prix, June 12, Montreal

On the Net: http://www.formula1.com

INDY RACING LEAGUE

Last race: Dan Wheldon won the Indianapolis 500 — his fourth victory in five tries this year — ending 35 years of frustration and failure for the Andrettis at the famed event as Danica Patrick’s electrifying run fell short with a nearly empty fuel tank. Patrick became the first woman to lead at Indy, getting out front three separate times for a total of 19 laps.

Next race: Bombardier 500, June 11, Fort Worth, Texas

NHRA

Last event: Australia’s Dave Grubnic become the first driver from outside North America to win a Top Fuel event, beating Larry Dixon in the final of the O’Reilly Summer Nationals at Topeka, Kan. John Force (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) each raced to their third straight victories.

Next event: CarQuest Auto Parts Nationals, June 12, Joliet, Ill.
