White Sox 5, Rangers 2: At Chicago, Jon Garland became the first eight-game winner in the major leagues, and A.J. Pierzynski homered for the third straight game to lead Chicago over Texas.

Indians 13, Angels 5: At Cleveland, Ben Broussard and Travis Hafner each hit two-run homers as Cleveland beat Los Angeles and spoiled starter Ervin Santana’s debut.

Tigers 4, Devil Rays 3 (11): At Detroit, Ivan Rodriguez tied the score with a two-out single in the ninth inning, Rondell White singled home the winning run in the 11th and Detroit defeated Tampa Bay.

Blue Jays 10, Twins 3: At Minneapolis, Josh Towers won his fourth straight start, and Toronto took advantage of Johan Santana’s worst outing in nearly a year to beat Minnesota.

Orioles 12, Royals 8: At Kansas City, Mo., Rafael Palmeiro hit his 555th career homer, drove in five runs and had his first four-hit game since Sept. 28, 2001, as Baltimore rallied from an 8-2 second-inning deficit to beat Kansas City.

Red Sox 7, Athletics 5: At Oakland, Calif., Edgar Renteria hit a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth and David Ortiz doubled and drove in two runs, as Boston beat mistake-prone Oakland, which committed two costly errors in the eighth to blow the game. Boston won despite having only four hits, thanks to 11 walks.

National League

Brewers 8, Nationals 2: At Washington, Wes Obermueller took a perfect game into the seventh and limited Washington to two hits in eight innings, leading Milwaukee over Washington. Obermueller struck out four and walked none in his first victory since Sept. 25.

Mets 2, Reds 1: At New York, Kaz Matsui turned New York fans’ boos to cheers with a two-run homer in the seventh and New York beat Cincinnati. Matsui was hitting .234 with two homers coming in.

Cubs 4, Pirates 3: At Pittsburgh, Derrek Lee homered twice, included a go-ahead two-run shot in the ninth off Jose Mesa (0-2), who had converted his 13 previous save chances this season, and Chicago topped Pittsburgh.

Phillies 7, Cardinals 5: At Philadelphia, Bobby Abreu hit his eighth homer in nine games, his 10th in May, as last-place Philadelphia overcame its first five-error game since July 15, 2002, to win against St. Louis.

Astros 3, Diamondbacks 0: At Houston, Roy Oswalt pitched eight strong innings to stay unbeaten against Arizona and pinch-hitter Jose Vizcaino had a two-run single with the bases loaded in the eighth in Houston’s win.

Rockies 9, Giants 4: At Denver, Dustan Mohr tripled and homered and newly acquired Blaine Neal anchored a strong outing by the Colorado bullpen to lift the Rockies to a victory over San Francisco.

Padres 3, Braves 2: At San Diego, Khalil Greene singled in the winning run with one out in the ninth and San Diego rallied for the third straight game to defeat Atlanta.

Dodgers 14, Marlins 5: At Los Angeles, Jeff Kent and Olmedo Saenz each drove in two runs in a four-run first, and Los Angeles defeated previously unbeaten Dontrelle Willis (7-1) and Florida.
