Hometown: He has lived in Coeur d’Alene since 2003. He originally is from Germany and came to the United States in 1977 after living in Canada for 11 years.

Occupation: Retired construction foreman.

Family: Wife, Baberbel.

Pets: A poodle/Shih-Tzu male, named T-Bear, who is 1, and a male poodle, 2, named Max.

Hobbies: Kayaking; he’s the founder of the Coeur d’Alene Kayak Club. He also enjoys hiking and politics. He also likes to cook and was a baker by trade in Germany.

Musical preferences: He listens to everything from country to light opera to pop.

Favorite reading material: Action-adventure stories by Clive Cussler.

Favorite foods: Healthy fare.

What he likes best about North Idaho: The weather, surroundings and some of the people.

Winter travel plans: Visit a friend in Palm Desert, Calif.
