Pullman gets by Lakeside

Michael Thomas scored with less than a minute remaining and Class 2A second-ranked Pullman, which blocked an earlier Lakeside extra point, made off with a 28-27 Great Northern League win Friday at Nine Mile Falls.

Pullman (7-0, 3-0) also had an earlier PAT fail, but, following Justin Erwin’s 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, Erwin threw a pass to J.T. Levenseller to earn the two points. Travis Corigliano had a TD run and a pair of TD passes for Lakeside (4-3, 2-2).

In other GNL action, Derek Martin had a pair of touchdown runs and Josh Crites had 108 yards and a touchdown on the ground as Riverside (4-2, 1-2) jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead and held on for a 26-15 win over visiting Deer Park (2-5, 1-3). … Clayton Becker rushed for 198 yards on 38 carries and had a pair of touchdowns as Chewelah (4-3, 2-2) went out to a 28-6 lead before holding on for a 28-21 victory over Medical Lake (0-7, 0-3) at Medical Lake.

Tony Starrett scored on a 74-yard screen pass and a 95-yard interception return just before halftime as Colfax (4-2, 2-1) moved into a tie for first place in the Northeast A League with a 16-10 win over Freeman (4-2, 2-1) in Colfax. Starrett finished with 206 all-purpose yards while Andrew Wilkerson, with a touchdown pass, field goal and extra point, accounted for all 10 of Freeman’s points. … In other NEA action, Luke Daniels threw a pair of touchdown passes and Jason Azzarito had two field goals as Kettle Falls (3-4, 1-2) shut down Newport (3-4, 1-2) 19-2 at Newport.

David Johnson had 211 yards on 40 carries and four touchdowns, but his attempted two-point conversion – a run to the right side – with 57 seconds left was stuffed as Republic (2-4, 1-4), behind Jesse Eich‘s two touchdowns – one running, one passing – held on for a 28-27 win over Odessa (2-5, 1-5) in Northeast B-11 action at Republic. … In other NEB-11 action, Ty Anderson had a touchdown on the ground and passing as Liberty (4-2, 4-2) jumped out to a 20-0 lead and held on for a 20-13 win over Lind-Ritzville (4-2, 3-2) at Liberty. … Eric Everett had a pair of touchdown runs and two TD passes to Brad Alberts as Reardan (5-1, 5-1) racked up 291 yards rushing on 50 carries in a 47-20 win over Selkirk (2-4, 2-3) in Reardan. … Cory Christman had a touchdown run and a touchdown reception from Kyle Nelson as Davenport (6-0, 4-0) shut out Wilbur-Creston (4-3, 2-2) 33-0 in Davenport.

Clay Hegar threw for 126 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Jack Dickson‘s five touchdown passes as DeSales (6-1, 2-0) beat Asotin (4-2, 1-1) 49-13 in Southeast B-11 action at DeSales. … In other SEB-11 action, Tory Bye was 8 of 12 for 235 yards and four touchdowns and also scored one on the ground as Pomeroy (2-4, 1-1) notched a 43-16 road win over Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia (1-5, 1-1). … Jeremy Maxey threw for a TD and ran for another as Dayton (4-2, 1-1) routed Waitsburg (2-3, 0-2) 28-2 in Dayton.

Miles St. John finished with 267 rushing yards and three touchdowns as Columbia (7-0, 4-0) took a 36-8 halftime lead and cruised for a 44-16 win over Cusick (3-4, 2-2) in Northeast B-8 action at Cusick. … In other NEB-8 action, Leigh Talkington rushed for 165 yards and five touchdowns as Sprague-Harrington (5-1, 2-1) coasted to a 60-14 win over visiting Inchelium (2-4, 0-2). … Dillon Strandberg rushed for 290 yards and six touchdowns on 19 carries and had a touchdown reception as host Curlew (1-4, 1-2) routed Almira/Coulee-Hartline (1-5, 0-2) 54-20.

Jared Ayers-Stamper was 10 for 16 passing for 111 yards and three touchdowns and added another score on the ground as LaCrosse-Washtucna (7-0, 4-0) recorded its 42nd consecutive win by beating Jubilee Academy (3-4, 1-3) in Southeast B-8 action at Jubliee Academy. … In other SEB-8 action, Joe Campbell had 34 carries for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Tri-Cities Prep (6-1, 2-1) racked up 447 yards on the ground to negate Andrew Wolfe‘s 380 passing yards and four total touchdowns in a 30-24 win over St. John-Endicott (3-3, 1-3) in Richland.

Kyle Kelly finished 20 of 31 for 253 yards and two touchdowns in the air and had 15 carries for 270 yards and three touchdowns as Colton-Pullman Christian (5-1) beat visiting Garfield-Palouse (1-3) 78-54 in non-league 8-man action. Jesse Cole ran for 311 yards on 18 carries and tallied seven total touchdowns.

Brooks Reynolds had 16 carries for 176 yards and three touchdowns as Lake City (6-1, 4-0 Inland Empire League) used its offense to run out the final 4:05 in a 44-42 win over Lewiston (4-3, 3-1) in Lewiston. … In other IEL action, Dan Hamilton scored on the second play of overtime and Post Falls (3-4, 1-3) stopped Lakeland (2-5, 0-4) on the ensuing OT possession in a 22-15 victory at Post Falls.

Jake Hall had a three rushing touchdowns and a TD pass as Coeur d’Alene (6-1) crushed visiting Sentinel of Montana (0-8) in non-league game in CdA.
