Schnibbe, Meyer keep U-Hi unbeaten in first place

It was Tonya Shnibbe to the rescue again, though Ali Meyer made her presence known as well.

Schnibbe had a goal and an assist and Meyer stopped all eight Mead shots as U-Hi held off the Panthers 2-0 in Greater Spokane League girls soccer at University.

Schnibbe assisted on Michelle Nichols’ goal in the 21st minute and then scored from the penalty spot in the 38th to keep University (13-0, 11-0, 32 points) unbeaten and in first place in the GSL.

Mead (10-3, 8-3, 24 points) sits in fourth place with two league matches to go for all teams except for Central Valley and Clarkston, who have three each, including a matchup against each other Monday.

In other GSL play, Megan Lindsay scored twice and Tara Cronin had a goal and an assist as Gonzaga Prep (12-1, 10-1, 31 points) stayed within a point of U-Hi by shutting out Cheney (6-8, 3-8, 10 points) 3-0 at Cheney.
