Shadle takes care of Central Valley, remains in second place

Senior outside hitter Emily Ness registered seven kills as Shadle Park swept Central Valley 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 in Greater Spokane League volleyball action at Central Valley.

Brynn Delong added two aces and eight blocks as the Highlanders (5-1 GSL) remained in second place in the GSL, a half-game ahead of Mt. Spokane and Lewis and Clark, which both play tonight.

Kayla Reilly had eight kills and Sam Kern had a team-high 24 assists, three aces and 12 digs for the Bears (4-2).

In other GSL action, Ashley Lupfer finished with 17 kills and Kasey Jurich added team highs in aces (five), digs (15) and blocks (four) as University (3-3 GSL) held off Clarkston (0-6) 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17. Jaimie Berghammer led the Bantams with 11 kills and three blocks. … Rachel Bonertz and Trisha Hubert had eight kills apiece and Bonertz added four blocks as East Valley (2-4) swept Cheney (1-5) 25-20, 25-21, 25-12 at Cheney. Meghan Cogley led the Blackhawks with nine kills.

Amy Herron lead Mead (6-0) with 31 assists, two aces and eight digs and Erin Norris added eight kills and three blocks as the Panthers swept Ferris (3-3) 25-9, 25-13, 25-14 at Ferris. Jessica Bates led Ferris with six kills, two aces and nine digs. … Melody Dossey had a huge day, finishing with 16 kills and four blocks as West Valley (3-3) beat Rogers (0-6) 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 at Rogers. Brittai Scott had seven kills and five blocks for the Pirates.

Caitlin McGrane finished with 10 kills as Colville held off Deer Park in Great Northern League action at Colville. Jordan Emil had nine digs and a pair of aces and Morgan Basett added nine kills and five digs for the Indians (2-2 league play). Brianna Nap had 11 kills and a pair of blocks for Deer Park (0-4).

Girls soccer

Amber Clark and Kim Fischer had first-half goals and Randi Hollen added a third in the second as Riverside (2-0, 6 points) shut out Medical Lake (0-2, 0 points) 3-0 in Great Northern League action at Medical Lake. Amanda Sturm made six saves to earn the shutout. … Ashley Attridge and Jaclynn Watson each scored twice as Deer Park thumped Chewelah 5-1 at Deer Park. Mackenzie Lowther added a goal and an assist and Laura Gibson added three assists for the Stags (1-0, 3 points). Jochelle Schatz had the only goal for Chewelah (0-2, 0 points).

Idaho preps

Rachel Moore led the way with 12 kills as Coeur d’Alene rallied from a 14-12 deficit in the final game to beat Post Falls 25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 14-25, 16-14 in Inland Empire League volleyball at Post Falls. Moore also had a block and an ace, and Heather Helmhout added 23 digs as the Vikings improved to 4-2 in league play. Paula Kastner led the Trojans (2-4) with 12 kills, four aces and 21 digs. … In other IEL action, Danielle Jacobson had three kills, five aces and nine digs as Lakeland (2-4) beat visiting Sandpoint (1-5) 3-0 at Rathdrum.

•Lake City received goals from Michael Eggleston in the 52nd minute and Michael Wyatt in the 63rd, both headers off assists Jason Anderson, and the Timberwolves beat Moscow in Inland Empire League action at Lake City. Scott Klein made four saves to earn the shutout for LC (4-3-2, 2-2-1) as the Timberwolves outshot the Bears (2-4, 1-4) 12-4. … Elsewhere, Garre Lowell scored in the 12th minute as Coeur d’Alene (5-1-3, 4-0-1) settled for a 1-all tie at Sandpoint (6-1-2, 3-0-2).
