Idaho hires coach for tennis

The University of Idaho has hired Jeff Beaman as its men’s and women’s tennis coach, the school announced Wednesday.

Beaman comes to UI from Texas Christian University, where he served one season as assistant men’s coach.

Beaman is a 2000 graduate of Alabama A&M University. He also coached at Barton County (Kan.) Community College and College of Santa Fe (N.M.).

Washington State was picked 10th in the Pacific-10 coaches poll.

Stanford is the pick to win the conference followed by UCLA, Washington, California, USC, Arizona, Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona State and WSU.
