Brigham Young continues to struggle

Sophomore guard Lisa Etienne scored 13 points Saturday and Hartford (5-3) handed No. 23 Brigham Young its third loss in five games, 60-43 in West Hartford, Conn.

Center Dani Kubik Wright led BYU (4-3) with 16 points. She was perfect from the field, hitting all seven of her shots, but didn’t attempt a field goal in the second half until scoring a three-point play with 4:31 left, cutting Hartford’s lead to 58-40.

(1) Maryland 105, UC Santa Barbara 44: At College Park, Md., Marissa Coleman had 15 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists – the first triple-double in Maryland history – to lead the top-ranked Terrapins (9-0) to a victory over the Gauchos (1-5).

Coleman was one of six players in double figures for the Terps, who had every player score. Laura Harper was 7 for 7 from the field and scored 19 points, and Crystal Langhorne had 18.

Jenna Green led the Gauchos with 15 points.

(3) Oklahoma 72, Tulsa 49: At Tulsa, Okla., Courtney Paris scored 24 points and had 13 rebounds for her 34th straight double-double for the Sooners (6-0) in their victory over the Golden Hurricane (3-4).

Jillian Robbins finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks to lead Tulsa.

(11) LSU 80, Detroit 44: At Baton Rouge, La., Sylvia Fowles scored 26 points and the Lady Tigers (9-1) clamped down on the Titans (1-4) in a victory.

Quianna Chaney finished with 15 points for the Lady Tigers, who shot 44 percent from the field. Fowles also had nine rebounds.

Joyce Massey led Detroit with 16 points, all coming in the second half.

(13) Baylor 81, SE Missouri St. 47: At Waco, Texas, Bernice Mosby scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds in leading the Lady Bears (8-1) to victory over the Redhawks (2-3).

Angela Tisdale added 17, and Jessica Morrow and Latara Darrett scored 12 apiece for Baylor.

Danielle Wilson added 10 points.

Sonya Daugherty led the Redhawks with 12 points and Lachelle Lyles had 11.

(14) Arizona St. 85, N. Arizona 72: At Tempe, Ariz., Jill Noe had 17 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds to give the Sun Devils (7-1) a victory over the Lumberjacks (5-4) and their sixth straight title in the Arizona State University Classic.

Arizona State played without starting forwards Aubree Johnson and Emily Westerberg, and starting guard Reagan Pariseau. They were in Idaho for the funeral of Johnson’s 15-year-old brother, Jordan.

Alyssa Wahl led the Lumberjacks with 18 points and Kristen Thompson scored 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Laura Dinkins added 15 points and 13 rebounds.

(16) California 96, Harvard 54: At Berkeley, Calif., Ashley Walker had 17 points and seven rebounds to lift the Bears (5-1) over the Crimson (0-6).

Emily Tay paced Harvard with 12 points.

Walker, who had 11 of her points in the first half, came into the game averaging 18.0 ppg.

(21) George Washington 68, Stony Brook 55: At Stony Brook, N.Y., Whitney Allen grabbed 14 rebounds and the Colonials (7-1) had four players score in double figures in a victory over the Seawolves (2-3).

Jessica Smith had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Stony Brook.
