Applicants wanted for council seat

From staff reports

The Spokane City Council is now accepting applications for an open seat from the city’s northwest council district.

Applicants will have until next Thursday at 5 p.m. to submit an application form, letter of introduction, resume and three reference letters to the council office on the 6th floor of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard. A new council member could be selected later this month.

The opening is for a seat in the city’s northwest council district, which is located west of Division Street and north of the Spokane River. Applicants must be voters and have lived in the city and the district for one year.

The seat was opened when northwest district Councilman Joe Shogan was appointed as council president on Tuesday to replace Mayor Dennis Hession, who had served as council president until last month’s recall.

For more information and for application forms, contact the council’s chief executive assistant, Mary Franklin, at 625-6255, at the council office.
