Line scores 20 points as Bears take care of Sandpoint

Cody Line scored 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Moscow to a 70-48 victory over host Sandpoint in an Inland Empire League boys basketball game Friday night.

Shane Miller added nine points, five rebounds and five assists for the Bears (8-4, 3-1), who blew the game open by outscoring the Bulldogs 25-11 in the fourth quarter. Brian Shultz scored 16 to lead Sandpoint (6-5, 2-2).

Cory Pehan scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half as Mullan pulled away for a 60-45 victory over visiting Wallace in a North Star League game. Matt Murray had 17 points and nine rebounds, and Jesse James added 13 points and 10 boards for the Tigers (8-3, 3-1), who outscored the Miners 34-19 in the second half. Nick Arthun scored 17 to lead Wallace (3-7, 0-3). … Josiah Menzies hit five 3-pointers and scored 22 points to lead Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy to a 65-48 victory over visiting Kootenai. David Baker scored 11 of his 19 points in the third quarter, and Chris Shaw added 12 points and seven assists for the Panthers (7-6, 3-2). Anthony Cranford scored 12 for the Warriors (2-8, 1-2).

Shane Moser scored a game-high 10 points to lead Lewiston (13-0) to a 42-27 win over Clarkston in the Golden Throne game at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston. Sean Benier led the way for the Bantams (1-9) with eight points.

Girls

Kelly Scott scored 18 points as Moscow cruised to a 47-28 victory over host Sandpoint in an Inland Empire League game. Kelsey Taylor added nine points for the Bears (5-10, 4-4), who led 17-2 after the first quarter and 30-11 at halftime. Kendal Burt led the Bulldogs (6-8, 2-5) with 16 points.

Tabitha Clark had 15 points, six rebounds and four steals as Priest River (8-7, 2-2) rebounded from a one-point first quarter to defeat visiting Kellogg 44-36 in an Intermountain League game. Marisa Bush scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats (9-8, 4-2). … Becky Lowther hit four free throws in the final minute to lead Bonners Ferry to a 50-43 victory over host St. Maries. Shantel Schirado and Jennifer Youngwirth scored 11 points apiece to lead the Badgers (10-5, 4-0). Mallory Lehman scored 15 to lead the Lumberjacks (7-6, 1-3), and Sam Siron had 10 points and six assists.

Cara Hayman scored 16 points and Krista Williams added 15 as Wallace (13-1, 4-0) defeated host Mullan 65-42 in a North Star League game. Katlyn Valerio scored 11 to lead the Tigers (1-11, 0-4), and Fawn Story added eight points and 11 rebounds.
