Dorothy dean favorite
Vi Holt told us that one of her favorite Dorothy Dean recipes is the Chili Con Carne. “I have used this recipe for many years. It is good with ground turkey or pork as well as hamburger,” she wrote.
Chili Con Carne
1 pound ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
2 (1-pound) cans kidney or pinto beans, drained (or 1½ cups dried beans, cooked)
1 (1-pound) can tomatoes
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1½ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon pepper
2 to 3 teaspoons chili powder
Brown ground beef and onion, stirring frequently. Drain off excess fat, if necessary. Stir in remaining ingredients, simmer, covered, for 30 minutes.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings
