Zimmerman’s free throws spark Selkirk
Travis Zimmerman hit a pair of free throws with 1 second left to send Selkirk’s boys basketball team to a 69-67 overtime win over Wellpinit in Panorama League action Saturday at Wellpinit.
Zimmerman finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and four steals as four Rangers (11-5, 8-2) scored in double figures – three finishing with a double-double. Clint March finished with a game-high 20 points and added 15 rebounds, Mikki Cromwell added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Derek MacArthur chipped in with 14 points.
T.J. Flett led Wellpinit (9-6, 6-4) with 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, while Jake Gree added 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Jacob Marcellay also chipped in with 10 points for the Redskins.
In other Panorama League action, Tanner Williams was 11 of 18 from the free-throw line and finished with 27 points as Cusick (7-9, 4-6) held off host Columbia 49-39 at Hunters. Tyrel Sampson led Columbia (0-13, 0-10) with 18 points. … Ben Czapla had a game-high 27 points as St. Michael’s (5-11, 3-7) overturned a nine-point deficit after three quarters into a 65-60 win over Inchelium at St. Michael’s. The Warriors outscored Inchelium (5-10, 4-6) 23-9 in the fourth. Nick Johnson finished with 18 points and John Mazurik 12 for St. Michael’s. Lance Ragan led Inchelium with 19 points, with Cody Peone chipping in 15. … Zach Gianukakis finished with a game-high 24 points as Republic (12-2, 10-0) forced Springdale (4-10, 2-8) into 23 turnovers en route to a 90-39 win at Springdale. Derek Gianukakis added 23 points and Adam Hancock had 11 for Republic. Nathan Thompson led the Chargers with 11 points, with Jeff Vanderholm adding 10 points and seven rebounds and Joel Kohlstedt added 10 points. … Henry Butler finished with 14 points and four assists as St. George’s (10-5, 7-3) held Northport (4-11, 2-8) to 27 percent shooting en route to a 78-46 win over the visiting Mustangs. •Anthony Ansah stole an inbounds pass and hit a turnaround jumper at the buzzer to win it as Liberty (11-2, 10-2) held off Wilbur-Creston 54-52 in a Bi-County League matchup at Liberty. Michael Johnson hit a field goal with 10 seconds left to put W-C (6-7, 5-6) up by two. Andrew Canning sent a full-court inbounds pass to Ansah, who hit a layup with 2 seconds left. After the Wildcats called a timeout, Ansah stole the inbounds pass and hit the jumper to win it. Andy Hodgson led Liberty with 18 points, while Canning had 13 of his 14 in the second half. Shayne Lewis led all scorers with 23 points for Wilbur-Creston, with Johnson adding 13 points and Colton Berg 10. … Vitaliy Kozubenko had 17 points as Valley Christian (9-5, 7-5) held visiting Almira/Coulee-Hartline to 26 percent shooting from the field en route to a 65-44 victory. Kettle Falls (14-2, 3-0) also got contributions from Brian Strobel (14 points) and Jason Azzarito (eight points). Colfax (12-3, 2-1) was led by Ben Aune and Brian Danaher, each finishing with 14 points.

Chris Widman was 10 of 14 from the field and 7 of 9 from the free-throw line, finishing with a game-high 29 points to lead Rosalia (5-10, 3-5). … Jessee Butcher had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Brent Leifer added 10 points, nine assists and four steals as St. John-Endicott (14-3, 9-0) cruised past Tekoa-Oakesdale 75-47 at St. John. The Eagles also got a game-high 17 points from Justin Taylor. Austin Cook led Tekoa-Oakesdale (11-5, 7-2) with 14 points.
•Jake Rowton was 12 of 16 from the free-throw line and finished with 31 points as Oroville held off Lake Roosevelt in Caribou Trail action at Coulee Dam. LR was led by the 14 points of Mario Tohee. Matt Pleasants added 13 points and nine rebounds, and Jonathan St. Pierre chipped in with 12 points.
Wrestling
Jason Fairley won the 145-pound weight class, and Alex Barham came in second at 130 as Clarkston took third in the team standings at the Clearwater Classic at Lewis-State College in Lewiston. The Bantams finished with 128.5 points, 15 behind second-place Sandpoint. Eastmont was first in the team standings with 155 points. Pullman, which got second-place finishes from Matt David at 140 and Mike Thomas at 215, came in fifth at 118 team points, 10 behind fourth-place Lewiston. Gonzaga Prep, which was led by third-place finishes from Gabe Ahl at 135 and Jon Healy at 145, was 13th with 78.5 points.
