Clark Fork quartet leads NSL victory

Four Clark Fork players notched double-digit points, led by Brian Young with 15, and the Wampus Cats topped Lakeside 57-41 in a North Star League boys basketball game Thursday at Plummer.

Kyle Ruen chipped in 12 points, Tyler Broggi 11 and Bill Clayton 10 for CF (7-9, 5-4), which moved into third place with the win.

Wyatt Paters led the Knights (1-12, 1-6) with 13 points, and Jeremiah Brunelle added 10.

•Kevin Cameron made the game-wining layup off an inbound pass with 4 seconds left, and Central Valley edged Rogers 55-54 in Greater Spokane League action at Rogers. Nick Ambrose paced CV’s Bears (12-3, 6-2) with 16 points. Scotty Livengood led all scorers with 21 points for the Pirates (6-9, 2-6).

Girls basketball

Clark Fork held Mullan to 17 points in the first three quarters of a 78-35 romp in a North Star League game at Mullan. Rayna Allen led the Wampus Cats (5-11, 5-3) with 23 points, and Tiffany Van Buren added 17 points and eight rebounds. Fawn Story paced the Tigers (1-15, 0-8) with 16 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks.

•Central Valley outscored Rogers 31-15 in the opening periods of each half en route to a 57-41 Greater Spokane League win at Rogers. Heidi Heintz led three CV players in double figures with 21 points. Justine Bowman added 12 and Sarah Gehring 10 for CV (10-5, 6-2). Denisha Whitehead scored 15 points and dished out five assists, and D’Erica Jones had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Pirates (2-13, 0-8).

Wrestling

Lake City and Moscow had four wins apiece but LC took a 52-21 victory with seven forfeits from the Bears. Aaron Ackerman, Jon Coyle and Nick Vaedreuil scored pins for LC. … Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) clinched the Great Northern League title with a 53-19 win over visiting Colville. John Millard got a pin at 171 pounds to start a streak of seven straight six-point wins for the Eagles, who are 7-0 in league.
