Homemade lotion works
The Dorothy Dean Homemaker’s Service was best known for recipes to feed families, but it also helped cooks keep their hands soft and their skin moisturized.
Dee Brown wrote recently asking for the Honey Hand Lotion and Golden Bath Oil recipes. “My very dry skin appreciates this. Both recipes work,” she wrote.
Honey Hand Lotion
3/4 cup rose water
1/4 cup glycerine
1/4 teaspoon white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon honey
Put all ingredients in blender; cover and blend on high for 20 seconds. Rub a few drops into the hands after washing to keep them soft.
Yield: About 1 cup
Golden Bath Oil
2 tablespoons coconut oil shampoo
2 cups safflower oil
Few drops perfume
Put all ingredients in blender; cover and blend on high for 30 seconds. Use 1 or 2 tablespoons per bathtub of water.
Yield: About 1 pint
