CCS men, down 20, triumph

KENNEWICK – Erik Bell hit the game-winning jumper as time expired, and Community Colleges of Spokane rallied from a 20-point deficit with 5 minutes left in the second half to edge Chemeketa 84-82 Friday night at the NWAACC tournament at the Toyota Center.

Bell finished with a game-high 32 points for the Sasquatch (23-7), and Jeremy Mangum added 18 points and 10 assists.

Riley Luettgerodt led the Storm (20-9) with 28 points.

CCS plays Lower Columbia in the semifinals today.

Women

Lane defeated CCS 68-62 in the second round of the tournament. Emily Wittkopf scored 16 to lead the Sasquatch (20-11), and Dominique King paced Lane (31-1) with 18 points.

CCS faces Bellevue today.
