CC Spokane earns pair of titles
The Community Colleges of Spokane men and women took first place at the NWAACC championships on Saturday at Spokane Falls.
Rick Bogatay led the men, finishing the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 50.825 seconds, good for second place.
On the women’s side, Taebrooke Rutter finished the 5,000 in 18:55.761 to take second.
• Washington State’s Alex Grant finished 23rd Saturday at the NCAA West Regional Cross Country Championships in Fairview, Ore., helping the Cougars earn eighth place out of 25 teams.
Grant finished the 10,000-meter course in 31:02.12.
Eastern Washington took 21st, led by Paul Limpf, who finished in 31:49.91 to place 53rd.
Gonzaga senior Joe Miller crossed the finish line in 31:38.89 and finished 51st individually.
On the women’s side, junior Haley Paul finished 18th for Washington State, helping the Cougars earn ninth place. Paul clocked in at 21:52.16.
Eastern Washington took 21st, led by the 65th-place finish of Camille Moseley (23:02.81).
•Whitworth senior Julie Lauterbach finished fifth at the NCAA Division III West Regionals at Prado Park in Chino, Calif., helping the Pirate women earn seventh place.
Lauterbach finished the 6,000-meter course in 22:56.63. She will be making her second straight appearance at the NCAA Championship meet next weekend at Voice of America Park in Mason, Ohio.
The Whitworth men took ninth, led by freshman Dusty Caseria’s 34th-place finish.
