Fresno St. 34, Louisiana Tech 27: At Ruston, La., Dwayne Wright’s 33-yard touchdown run with just 0:53 seconds on the clock propelled Fresno (4-7, 4-3 WAC) to a win over Louisiana Tech (1-6, 3-9). The win was sealed when Tech quarterback Zac Champion threw an interception to Damon Jenkins at the Fresno State 42 with :27 to play. It was Jenkins’ second pick of the night. Wright rushed for a Fresno State school record 295 yards on 25 carries, his final carry of the night proving to be the game-winner.
UNLV 42, Air Force 39: At Las Vegas, Rocky Hinds threw for a career-high 351 yards and two touchdowns and David Peeples had a pair of touchdown runs to help the Rebels (2-10, 1-7 Mountain West) snap a 10-game losing streak with a victory over the Falcons (4-7, 3-4). The Rebels scored 16 straight points in the second half to take the lead.
Tulsa 38, Tulane 3: At Tulsa, Okla., Paul Smith threw for 215 yards and a touchdown as the Hurricane (8-4, 5-3 Conference USA) snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Green Wave (4-8, 2-8). Tulsa will await their bowl future, which depends on other Conference USA results.
W. Michigan 17, Akron 0: At Akron, Ohio, Ryan Cubit threw for 217 yards and a touchdown to lead the Broncos (8-4, 6-2 Mid-American Conference) to a win over the Zips (5-7, 3-5). The win will likely help the Broncos secure a bowl invitation for the first time since 1988.
Ohio 34, Miami (Ohio) 24: At Oxford, Ohio, Kalvin McRae scored on runs of 48 and 66 yards and the Bobcats (9-3, 7-1 Mid-American) beat the rival RedHawks (2-10, 2-6) to close in on the school record for wins. Ohio’s nine wins this season is its most since the Bobcats went 10-1 in 1968 to tie the school record for victories.
Ball St. 30, Kent St. 6: At Muncie, Ind., Larry Bostic ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns as the Cardinals (5-7, 5-3 Mid-American) defeated the Golden Flashes (6-6, 5-3).
Northern Illinois 27, Eastern Michigan 0: At Ypsilanti, Mich., Garrett Wolfe rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown as the Huskies (7-5, 5-3 Mid-American) beat the Eagles (1-11, 1-7).
Central Michigan 55, Buffalo 28: At Amherst, N.Y., Dan LeFevour threw three touchdown passes in the first half and Tim Brazzel returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a score as the Chippewas (8-4, 7-1 Mid-American) defeated the Bulls (2-10, 1-7).
