Southern California is the new No. 2.

The Trojans advanced one spot to overtake Michigan in The Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday, a day after their 44-24 victory over Notre Dame. The Trojans moved into second place in the BCS standings as well.

The Wolverines are ahead of No. 4 Florida, which beat Florida State 21-14 Saturday. LSU moved up to No. 5 after a 31-26 victory over Arkansas. No. 6 Louisville moved up two spots and No. 7 Wisconsin jumped three places.

No. 8 Arkansas dropped three spots after a loss and Oklahoma is tied with the Razorbacks after moving up five spots.

Boise State, which beat Nevada 38-7 to complete an unbeaten regular season, moved up to No. 10 in the AP.

Boise State also moved up to eighth place in the BCS standings and will become the second team from outside the original BCS conferences to play in one of the four big-dollar bowl games.

Hamm expecting, declines induction

Soccer star Mia Hamm declined induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Austin, Texas, next year because she’s pregnant and has been advised not to travel. Hamm spent her teenage years in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Hamm was voted into the hall with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, former Oklahoma great Billy Sims, Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds and quarterback Warren Moon.

Hamm and husband Nomar Garciaparra are expecting their first child in early spring.

NBA

Morrison opening eyes

Adam Morrison seems to be a little more comfortable in his skin these days. According to NBA.com’s latest rankings for rookie of the year candidates, the Charlotte Bobcats and former Gonzaga Bulldogs standout is in the front of the pack for the first-year honor.

After a solid last three games, where Morrison is averaging 19 points and five rebounds – while shooting a much-improved 46 percent from the field – NBA.com has ranked him ahead of Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge and Memphis’ Rudy Gay for rookie of the year at this point in the season.
