Twins 2, Tigers 1: At Minneapolis, Boof Bonser struck out five and allowed only five hits in seven strong innings, leading Minnesota to a victory over Detroit and pulling the Twins to within three games of the Central Division-leading Tigers.

Yankees 3, Orioles 2: At Baltimore, Chien-Ming Wang pitched effectively into the eighth inning to earn his 17th victory, and Derek Jeter had two hits and an RBI to help New York beat the Orioles. Jeter went 2 for 4 in extending his career-high hitting streak to 19 games.

Devil Rays 9, Athletics 6: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Rocco Baldelli and Carl Crawford had RBI singles during a tiebreaking three-run sixth inning as Tampa Bay beat Oakland.

White Sox 10, Indians 8: At Chicago, Paul Konerko homered twice and Jon Garland pitched six innings to earn his 17th victory of the season as the White Sox defeated Cleveland.

Royals 10, Red Sox 4 (12): At Boston, Jeff Keppinger’s three-run homer broke a tie in Kansas City’s six-run 12th inning and the Royals stretched their winning streak over the Red Sox to five games with a victory.

Blue Jays 2, Angels 1: At Anaheim, Calif., Gustavo Chacin pitched seven strong innings, Adam Lind and Frank Catalanotto had RBI doubles and Toronto snapped Los Angeles’ six-game winning streak.
