Chiefs trade Lynch to Rebels
Three weeks after telling Jason Lynch they were trying to trade him and he didn’t have to report to training camp, the Spokane Chiefs dealt the 19-year-old defenseman to the Red Deer Rebels on Monday.
For Lynch, the last of four brothers to play for Spokane, the Western Hockey League team will receive third- and fifth-round selections in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.
“This trade gives our organization the assets to improve our team this season or to build for the future, whichever we choose,” said Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz. “We wish Jason the best in Red Deer and in his career.”
Lynch, Spokane’s second-round selection in the 2002 Bantam Draft, played 175 games in three seasons with the Chiefs. He was part of hockey history as a 15-year-old in 2003 when he and siblings Doug, Scott and Jeff became the first set of four brothers to play together in a major junior game.
