EWU volleyball loses at ISU
POCATELLO, Idaho – Eastern Washington took the opening game, but Idaho State won the next three in a Big Sky Conference volleyball opener for both teams Thursday.
It was the first time in 12 matches that Eastern lost to Idaho State, with the last ISU victory over the Eagles coming Sept. 14, 2000, also in Pocatello.
The Eagles (7-3, 0-1) hit .393 in the first game but only .210 in the match. The low point for Eastern was hitting .114 in the fourth game against the Bengals (5-8, 1-0).
Addie Webster led the Eagles with three service aces, 17 kills, and 12 digs. Chrystal Johnson added 13 kills for Eastern and Brittney Page had 10. Kristen Ponce led Eastern in digs with 18.
Idaho State was led by Nikki Havens, who had 19 kills and hit .317. Zoe Beltz recorded 13 kills and hit .385.
The Eagles play another conference match Saturday at Portland State before they host Northern Arizona on Thursday.
