Billy Moon allowed one run on four hits while striking out eight in a complete game as University (5-2) topped host Central Valley (4-5) 6-1 Tuesday in the Greater Spokane League.
Jacob Olsufka hit a two-run double in the Titans’ four-run fourth inning. Olsufka finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Elsewhere in the GSL, Paul Smith pitched a complete-game no-hitter as Mt. Spokane blanked host Shadle Park (4-6) 3-0 in the first game of a doubleheader. Andy Pittz was 3 for 3 with an RBI and Jarek Cunningham hit a solo home run in the sixth for the Wildcats. Mt. Spokane won the second game 6-0. Nic Fowler allowed two hits for the Wildcats (9-1) in the complete game and also hit a two-run double in Mt. Spokane’s five-run sixth. Mark Purser finished 2 for 4 and also had a two-RBI double in the sixth. … Scott Simchuck went 4 for 5 with three RBIs as Mead edged visiting North Central (4-6) 11-9 in the first game of a doubleheader. Connor Moore and Sean McNaughten each hit two-run doubles in the sixth for the Panthers. In the second game, David Hennessey (3-0) allowed no runs and one hit while striking out 10 in the complete game as Mead won 4-0. Moore went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Panthers (7-1). … Jacob Partridge went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as Rogers topped visiting Lewis and Clark 6-3 in the first game of a doubleheader. Scotty Livengood picked up the win for the Pirates after allowing three runs on five hits in the complete game. Jamie McNeil hit a two-run homer in the first for the Tigers (1-9). In the second game, Chad Combo’s two-run single in the sixth broke a 2-all tie and gave Rogers (4-4) a 5-2 win. Partridge picked up the win for Rogers after allowing two runs on six hits in the complete game. … Beau Brett hit a three-run homer in the seventh and Ferris (6-2) beat host Gonzaga Prep 10-3 in the first game of a doubleheader. Bud Kittredge earned the win after allowing five hits and three runs in the complete game. Kittredge also went 4 for 4 with two runs and an RBI. The Bullpups won the second game 3-2. Bryan Karwacki went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Kellan Webb was 2 for 4 with a run scored for G-Prep (3-7).
“Colville scored nine runs in the fourth inning and cruised past visiting Deer Park (1-6, 0-5) 16-1 in five innings in the first game of a Great Northern League doubleheader. Trevor Fox went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Ben Pinkham was 2 for 2 with two RBIs for the Indians (4-3, 3-1). In the second game, Zac Pete hit a two-run home run in the seventh and Colville won 14-3. Carlos Blackman picked up the win for the Indians after allowing two runs through four innings.
“St. Maries scored two runs in the top of the seventh and the Lumberjacks beat host Timberlake 7-6 in the first game of an Intermountain League doubleheader in Spirit Lake. Kale Smith went 4 for 4 with two runs for the Tigers (0-8, 0-3). In the second game, St. Maries scored 11 runs in the second and went on to win 18-2 in five innings. Cole Schiermeister, Tice Siron and Michael Guidry each had three hits for the Lumberjacks (5-6, 4-1). … Elsewhere in the IML, Kenny Swift went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs as Bonners Ferry topped visiting Priest River (3-3, 1-1) 13-5. Chris James went 3 for 3 with an RBI and run scored for the Badgers (8-3, 1-0), who jumped to a 6-0 lead after three innings.
