Nicole Smith batted 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs Wednesday to lead Moscow (14-6, 10-4) to a 7-5 win over visiting Lake City in the first half of an Inland Empire League softball doubleheader.

Kaitlyn McDonald finished 2 for 5 with two runs and three RBIs in a 14-1 rout for the Timberwolves (12-6, 7-5) in the nightcap.

Men’s golf

Washington’s Alex Prugh, a Ferris grad, and Washington State freshman Austin Hurt both shot a final-round 74 to finish at even-par 288 to tie for 16th place at the Pac-10 Championships at the Eugene (Ore.) Country Club.

Washington placed fifth and WSU finished in last place.

USC won the team title behind medalist Jamie Lovemark’s 19-under 269.

Women’s golf

Mead grad Amy Eneroth posted eighth-place Washington State’s best score with an 11th-place 229 at the Pac-10 Championships at Broadmoor Country Club in Seattle.

College baseball

Cody Brubaker (Post Falls) had three hits, including two triples, as CC Spokane (20-15, 10-7) posted a 7-6 win over Yakima Valley in the second game of a NWAACC doubleheader at Spokane Falls CC.
