The Spokesman-Review

Police conducting a drug investigation in Smithfield, Va., raided a house owned by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and found dozens of dogs, some injured and emaciated.

Police also found items associated with dog fighting.

State Police Sgt. D.S. Carr said Vick’s relative, Davon Boddie, 26, lives in the house. Vick owns the property but doesn’t live there and wasn’t present when a search warrant was executed in a drug investigation Wednesday night, Carr said.

Boddie was arrested outside a nightclub by Hampton police April 20 on charges of distribution of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.

More than 60 dogs were found in three buildings. Some appeared malnourished, scarred and injured, officials said.

“A woman who was with San Diego Chargers linebacker Steve Foley the night he was shot by an off-duty police officer was found guilty of felony assault with a deadly weapon.

Lisa Maree Gaut was convicted of trying to run down Officer Aaron Mansker with Foley’s car. Foley had left the car to confront Mansker, who fired shots into the linebacker’s left leg, hip and hand.

Sean O’Hair shot a season-best 5-under-par 65 in the EDS Byron Nelson Championship at Irving, Texas, to take a one-stroke lead over defending champion Brett Wetterich and Anders Hansen after the tournament’s first round without its namesake.

Wetterich’s 66 included an eagle 3 on the 554-yard 16th hole when he hit his approach within 7 feet of the pin.
