David signs with Saints
Former Washington State cornerback Jason David signed a four-year contract with New Orleans on Friday.
The Colts had a week to match New Orleans’ offer sheet. David was the second starting cornerback to leave Indianapolis this off-season; Nick Harper signed with Tennessee.
David will reportedly receive about $16 million, a cost the Colts considered too much under the league’s salary cap.
Indianapolis will get a fourth-round draft pick from the Saints, giving it three in the round and nine overall. The draft starts today.

Jackson could be headed to 49ers
Seattle receiver Darrell Jackson is headed to San Francisco for a physical with the 49ers as the teams talk about a trade.
Jackson, 28, is the Seahawks’ leader in receptions since entering the NFL in 2000. The Seahawks have been shopping him around the league since late February, and now they might have a suitor.
Jackson planned to fly to San Francisco for a physical examination this morning, a source said. The sides have talked about a trade that would return a fourth-round choice to Seattle, ESPN.com reported.
There were no indications that Seattle had agreed to terms of a trade. But with Jackson headed to San Francisco as the NFL draft was about to begin, the 49ers are clearly the leading candidate should a deal get done.

Giants, Tigers in Memorial Cup
Milan Lucic and Michal Repik both scored a goal as the Vancouver Giants advanced to the WHL championship with a 5-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars.
The Giants now have a chance to repeat as WHL champions after taking the best-of-7 Western Conference series 4-1. Meanwhile, Medicine Hat won the Eastern Conference series with a 4-3 OT win over Calgary. Their WHL title series opens Friday at Medicine Hat.
Both Vancouver and Medicine Hat advance to the Memorial Cup, since Vancouver is the host team and Medicine Hat will be the WHL’s representative.
The Giants became the first team to qualify for back-to- back WHL finals since Kamloops won consecutive titles in 1994-95 and 1993-94.
