Area roundup: Savana Bezdicek ousts sister Sierra
Sisters Savana and Sierra Bezdicek of Colbert squared off in the match-play portion of the PNGA Junior Girls Amateur Championship at Ocean Shores (Wash.) Golf Club on Tuesday and took 20 holes to settle matters.
Savana sank a 4-foot putt for par on the second extra hole to advance to the quarterfinals.
Spokane’s Lauren Howell lost her match 1-up.

Third-string quarterback Chris Joseph has been put on “investigative suspension” by first-year Idaho coach Robb Akey after being charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession on Sunday night.
According to the Moscow-Pullman Daily News, Joseph, injured receiver West Williams, and former UI defensive lineman and track athlete Lindsey Goodman were stopped on the road to Pullman. The stop was made after police received a call from another motorist who complained the car was tailgating her.
All four were given criminal citations and released.
Girls soccer
Emma Hawn scored from 18 yards out in the 18th minute for the only goal of the match and the Lake City Timberwolves held on for a 1-0 victory over the visiting Lakeland Hawks in an Inland Empire League opener.
Boys soccer
Ian Engerbretson scored a pair of goals and Luke O’Rourke added another – all in an 18-minute span in the first half – and the visiting Lewiston Bengals blanked the Moscow Bears 3-0 in an Inland Empire League opener.
Elsewhere in the IEL, Evan Palo and Jimmy Williamson both scored twice to lead the visiting Lake City Timberwolves to a 4-2 victory over the host Lakeland Hawks at Rathdrum.
