An aging marketplace
The National Association of Realtors conducted a survey of nearly 2,000 Americans born between 1946 and 1964. The survey, released last May, shows why baby boomers are an attractive market for Realtors.
Baby boomers have a higher rate of home ownership than the national average.
Nearly eight in 10 boomers own their own homes.
One in four own more than one property.
Baby boomers own 57 percent of all vacation and seasonal homes and 58 percent of all rental property.
25 percent of boomers aren’t happy with their homes.
Eight in 10 boomers used a real estate agent the last time they sold a home.
Typical boomers have lived in their present homes for a median of nine years and plan to stay for five more.
