Ginobili lifts Spurs to victory over Jazz
Manu Ginobili had 37 points for the second straight game to lift the Spurs to a 104-98 win over the Utah Jazz on Friday night in San Antonio for their fifth straight victory.
The Spurs remain unbeaten at home despite their second straight game without Tim Duncan, who is recovering from a sprained ankle.
Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer had 28 points apiece for Utah, which hasn’t won in San Antonio since 1999.
Bulls 98, Pistons 91: At Auburn Hills, Mich., Andres Nocioni scored 22 points and Ben Wallace added 13 rebounds and 10 points to lead Chicago over Detroit.
The Bulls won despite Chauncey Billups’ 15 fourth-quarter points for Detroit. Chicago has won four of its last five, and ended Detroit’s winning streak at five games.
Rockets 96, Nets 89: At East Rutherford, N.J., Yao Ming had 25 points and 11 rebounds, Tracy McGrady added 24 points, and Houston never trailed in a victory over New Jersey.
Jason Kidd returned to the Nets’ lineup after a one-game absence, but his game didn’t come together until it was too late. He finished with 10 points – eight in the fourth quarter – seven rebounds and seven assists.
Celtics 112, Raptors 84: At Boston, Kevin Garnett scored 23 points and the Celtics improved to 10-0 at home with a win over Toronto.
Paul Pierce had 18 points and Ray Allen 13 for Boston (16-2), which is off to the NBA’s best start and its best home mark since opening the 1984-85 season 12-0.
76ers 101, Knicks 90: At Philadelphia, Samuel Dalembert scored 20 points, Lou Williams and Andre Iguodala each scored 15 and the 76ers snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over New York.
Jamal Crawford scored New York’s first 16 points in the fourth quarter and finished with 28 points.
Clippers 97, Kings 87: At Sacramento, Calif., Chris Kaman had 26 points and 12 rebounds to help Los Angeles snap a seven-game losing streak with a victory over the Kings.
Trailing by 11 points entering the third quarter, the Clippers took control in the second half behind the inside play of Kaman, who made 9 of 12 shots and 8 of 10 free throws.
Pacers 115, Magic 109: At Orlando, Fla., Danny Granger scored a season-high 27 points and Jamaal Tinsley had 20 points and 10 assists to lift Indiana to a win over the Magic.
Seven players scored in double figures for the Pacers, who rallied from a 15-point third-quarter deficit.
Suns 122, Wizards 107: At Washington, Steve Nash delivered a season-high 19 assists, Amare Stoudemire scored 27 points, and Raja Bell had 14 of his 22 points during a game-deciding third quarter, helping Phoenix beat the Wizards for its fifth consecutive victory.
Hornets 118, Grizzlies 116 (OT): At New Orleans, Chris Paul hit a driving layup through a crowd of defenders with 1.8 seconds left in overtime, capping a game of career highs and lifting the Hornets to a victory over Memphis.
Paul hit five 3-pointers on his way to 43 points, both career highs, to go with nine assists and four steals.
Warriors 120, Heat 113: At Oakland, Calif., Baron Davis scored 13 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and Golden State wore down Miami before rallying to its 11th win in 13 games.
Dwyane Wade scored a season-high 33 points, Ricky Davis had 20 and Dorell Wright added 19 points for Miami.
