AREA WOMEN : Waves break GU’s win streak
Pepperdine connected on 54 percent of its field goals in the first half, including 6 of 10 3-pointers, then cruised to a 70-56 win Thursday over host Gonzaga in a West Coast Conference matchup.
The loss was Gonzaga’s first in conference play and snapped an eight-game win streak.
Pepperdine broke the game open with a 16-point run late in the first half to pull ahead 31-10. Daphanie Kennedy scored 16 to lead four players in double figures for the Waves (10-13, 3-5).
Stephanie Hawk scored 15 to lead the Bulldogs (15-9, 7-1).
