Bowman leads GU past Saint Mary’s

Freshman Heather Bowman scored 25 points, going 8 for 10 from the field and 9 for 10 from the line, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Gonzaga to a 78-68 win over Saint Mary’s Thursday in a West Coast Conference matchup at Moraga, Calif.

Katy Ridenour added 12 points and Jami Bjorklund chipped in 11 for the Bulldogs (17-9, 9-1). Serena Benavente led the Gaels (10-12, 4-5) with 15 points.

“Cameo Hicks tallied 27 points, six rebounds and six assits to lead Washington to a 79-76 OT win over No. 20 California in a Pac-10 game at Berkeley, Calif.

Andrea Plouffe chipped in 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for the Huskies (15-10, 8-6). Devanei scored 25 points to lead the Bears (18-6, 8-5).

“Freshman Jayne Appel had 19 points and 14 rebounds as No. 11 Stanford routed Washington State 60-34 in a Pac-10 game at Stanford, Calif.

Candice Wiggins had 16 points for the Cardinal (20-4, 12-1), while Amanda DuRocher scored 10 points to lead the Cougars (15-9, 1-13), who dropped their 13th straight game.

“Chelsey Warburton and Laura Porter each scored 21 points, and Weber State ran away in the second half for a 73-56 win over Eastern Washington in a Big Sky matchup at Ogden, Utah.

Sara Tuomi added 11 points for the Wildcats (14-10, 9-2), and Phynique Allen came off the bench to score 16 points for the Eagles (7-17, 2-9).
